My job isn't simply to make you look good in a photograph. It's to understand what makes you, your business and your brand different and create images that communicate that.
That's where my background comes in.
Before becoming a photographer, I spent my career working with businesses and technology. I founded and sold one of the UK's early free internet service providers, then spent nearly twenty years in corporate IT, including five years at Microsoft. I've worked as a consultant, in sales and with business owners, founders and entrepreneurs. I've spent years asking questions, understanding businesses, solving problems and helping people communicate what they do.
I bring that experience to every photography session.
I'll want to know what you're trying to achieve, who you're trying to reach and where you're going to use the images. I'll help you work out what we need to photograph rather than simply turning up and taking photographs. And if I think there's a better way of doing something, I'll tell you. That's probably why my clients often talk about the experience as much as the photographs. I'm also interested in what happens outside the office.
In 2023, I crossed the Atlantic on my 40-foot sailing boat. For almost a month I was out of range of meaningful assistance. It was a lifelong ambition, but it was also daunting. Getting there required planning, preparation, problem-solving and the ability to adapt when things didn't go according to plan. Those things have served me pretty well elsewhere too.
Photography has been part of my life since I was young, when my SLR camera and a darkroom occupied part of my bedroom. Decades later, I'm still fascinated by what a photograph can communicate. I've photographed professional sport at Wrexham FC, motorcycle racing at the Isle of Man TT, businesses, events and the people behind them.
Today, my focus is personal brand photography.
Not the headshot. The person behind the business. The way you work. Your personality, expertise, people, products and the things that make your business yours. The aim is to create a library of images you can actually use on your website, LinkedIn, social media, marketing and PR. One shoot. A library of images. Months of content.
So that's me.
A photographer, consultant, entrepreneur, problem solver and sailor.
But ultimately, this isn't really about me.
It's about what you've built, what makes you different and how we can create imagery that tells that story.
